Baptism is one of the greatest gifts that Christ has given us, and one of the greatest gifts that parents can give to their children.
Baptism is the first step leading to full incorporation with Christ and His Church. Thus, we cannot celebrate baptism indiscriminately. Parents accept a great deal of responsibility in presenting a child for baptism. They will be the child’s first teachers in the faith. The child has the right to seek from them the best example.
With all this in mind, we ask parents to prepare themselves seriously for this privilege. Specifically, they do this by participating in a process aimed at preparing them for the baptism of their child.

Attend a Baptismal Preparation Session held the Second Tuesday of each month, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
View the Weekly Bulletin to confirm date and location.
The even month classes will take place at Sacred Heart, Reedsburg and the odd month classes will continue to take place at St. Joseph, Baraboo.

*If you have attended a Baptismal Preparation Session in the past three years, through any of the churches in our pastorate, you will not be required to attend Baptismal Preparation Session.

Godparent(s):
Must be at least 16 years old
Regularly attending Mass
Received the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist & Confirmation,
Be married in the Catholic Church (if married)
Cannot be the parent of the child
Additionally,
If you have only one Godparent: that person can be either male or female
If you have two Godparents: one must be male and the other female
One Christian Witness may accompany one Godparent
